“Laaaaaadiiiiies aaaaand geeeentlemeeeeen! The following contest is scheduled for ten rounds. It’s the evening’s main event and is for the Women’s World Welterweight Title! First, fighting out of the red corner, hailing from Boston, Massachusetts by way of Dublin, Ireland, weighing in at 147 pounds with a record of 24-5-3 with nineteen victories coming by way of knockout, Rachel “Red Shepherd” O’Haaaaanaaaaahaaaaaaaan!”

The crowd was raucous! Finally, their hometown girl was getting a shot at the title. Everyone knew that the fight would be tough but they had faith in their “red shepherd.” Rachel took a step forward and raised her arms. She was a tall girl, coming in at 5’10”. Her height gave her a slightly lanky appearance but she had defined muscles. She had short but curly hair that framed her face. A smattering of freckles and sultry green eyes completed the Irish look. She was clad in red gloves with white trim, a red sports bra that belied her rather ample chest and red trunks and boots. On her trunks was a black shepherd’s crook on the left pant leg. Rachel took a moment to bathe in the cheers. After meeting the gaze of her family in attendance, she spun back around and shadowboxed while her opponent was introduced.

“In the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas Nevada by way of Tel Aviv, Israel, weighing 145 pounds with a record of 19-1-2 with 9 wins coming by way of knockout, the current Women’s Welterweight champion of the wooooooorld, Tiqvah “TV” Vaaaaaaaardiiiiiii!”

Tiqvah Vardi, or TV as she preferred to be called, was a woman with tanned skin and dark, raw umber hair that encroached on her face, framing it sloppily. The shoulder length locks fanned out at the back and one annoying colic stuck out from her head. She could never seem to pin it down no matter how hard she tried. Her chest was fairly large but not the size of Rachel’s. It was held in place by a blue sports bra. TV’s exposed abs were chiseled and royal blue trunks trimmed in white hugged her hips. Her boots were blue and laced white and her gloves were clad in blue, with the ends white like an amateur’s glove. However, inside the white was a blue six pointed star. She was tall, like Rachel, but came in just a couple inches shorter at 5'8".

TV raised her hands in the air as she was called. She hadn’t expected to get the sort of welcome her opponent was getting. Honestly, she hadn’t even been expecting this fight at all. It was thrown together almost at the last minute. She had tried to get the details out of her second but that was no good. She didn’t like putting up her title on what felt like a bit of a lark but she hated to back down from a challenge either.

She knew who Rachel was. The girl was good, for sure. Their paths were going to cross eventually one way or another and while TV also didn’t really like the idea of her stepping into Rachel’s home turf, the more odd the circumstances the match felt, the more eager she was to get on with the fight.

“It’s like punching through destiny’s face.” She muttered to her second as she stepped forward.

“Oy, Rach’ How ya doin?” TV said as the referee gave them instructions.

“Hardly the place fer small talk.” Rachel said, her gaze fierce and her Irish accent thick.

“Oh, yeah… what with the boxing and everything.” TV looked Rachel up and down. “You’re really going all out for a name like that…” The Israeli said with a chuckle, trying to cover her mouth with her glove.

“Course I am!? Least I HAVE a name!" Rachel barked. “What kinda nickname is ‘TV’ anyway?!”

“No, no, I…” TV said, waving her glove at Rachel before the referee urged them back to their corners.

TV bounced on her heels. “Does she even realize..” TV muttered before her mouth guard was pushed into her mouth by her second.

“What was she goin on about? Was she making fun of me?!” Rachel growled at her second who shrugged.  “Left that wrappin yerself up in the flag thing for the resta the Irish lasses. It’s been done. It’ll BE done. I worked really hard on this…” There was a mixture of annoyance and hurt in her tone as her second popped the mouth guard into her. Both fighters stepped forward and each of their faces melded into serious looks. They eyed each other and when the referee called them to box, the bell rang!

Round 1

Both girls met at the center of the ring and began to circle each other. Rachel was the initial aggressor with crisp left jabs followed  by a sharp hook that hissed against TV’s mitts. The champion responded by flashing leather at the Irish challenger with a few jabs of her own, dipping her head when Rachel snapped a straight right at TV’s head. TV backed away before Rachel could follow up and she threw out some more jabs as she circled back into the center of the ring.

Rachel followed and bobbed her head past a hook that TV threw to duck inside. She swung her own hook into TV’s side that was blocked with a quick drop of the arm. TV rolled away from the combination’s follow up and made sure that quick jabs kept Rachel from following up even more.

The two girls paced around the middle of the ring, flicking jabs at each other and testing out one another's defenses. TV's were solid and right now Rachel was willing to eat a punch or two just to find a good spot. TV wasn't. Inside the ring, she was very patient.

Rachel stepped forward and pushed a hard left into TV's gloves, following with a hard right aimed at the stomach. The champ blocked the follow up and threw a jab up that pattered against Rachel's cheek but the Irish lass arced an uppercut underneath it that fit just underneath TV's breast.

"Ngh." TV grunted and weaved past a telegraphed left and planted her foot. She splashed two quick jabs into Rachel's cheek once more and followed up with a hook that narrowly avoided Rachel's cheek. The red head responded with a hook from her weak hand that TV bent her body to avoid.  She brought her hands up quickly as the hard right smashed into her gloves, rattling her and causing her to back away.

TV circled around cautiously as she weaved past a few set up jabs. The two had another brief exchange and TV landed a hook to the side of Rachel's body and narrowly avoided a crisp uppercut that Rachel thought that she could sneak through TV's guard.

The rest of the round found neither boxer able to bear any sort of fruit and both went back to their corners feeling good.

"Well, she's got kishkes in those fists, I'll give her that." TV said as she prepared for the next round. "She'll do her family proud one day. Well, she is, I'm sure. She'll do them prouder. After I retire." She said with a grin. "Or drop weight. Oy."

Round 2

Both fighters came out from their corners, eager to keep mixing it up. Rachel was even more aggressive, pouring it on early as she punished TV's guard. The champ backpedaled and tried to establish a point at which she could start to hold off Rachel's punches, but even with her offense, with her carefully placed hooks trying to find holes in Rachel's guard, pushing the challenger back and keeping her constantly ducking and weaving, Rachel was still not backing off. Most of TV's jabs missed or were mitigated, only glancing off of the fiery Irish lass.

Eventually Rachel's persistence paid off and a uppercut caught TV just under the chest, and a crisp hook punished her cheek before she weaved away from the third fist in the combination, ducking low against an aggressive hook at her face and throwing her own straight into Rachel's stomach that paused her enough for TV to squirrel away and retreat back into the center of the ring.

Rachel pursued and kept up her aggressive pace, methodically pushed TV back more, almost pinning her against the ropes with a few lefts and rights before TV clinched.

"Oyyy..." She huffed for the second she was locked up with Rachel before the referee broke. When called to box, TV decided that she couldn't back away and ate an incoming hook, that glanced off of her forehead, sending sweat spraying into the air. It was the perfect chance for her to counter with a shot at Rachel's hard body and for a moment the air filled with the sound of crisp *thumps* as gloves careened off shoulders and abs, each girl stayed in position and tried to score as many shots as they could.

TV noticed that Rachel was mixing in attacks at the head while they pounded at each other's sides. The girl wanted a knockout and TV knew she could take advantage of that but it was difficult. TV wasn't able to counter punch too much. Rachel's defenses were by no means flawless but her aggression wasn't sloppy. She was using her offense to fill the gaps in her defense and as the round came to a close, TV slipped back to her corner. She knew that Rachel had probably gotten that one from her.

"I can see it in her eyes. She WANTS to knock my block off but she respects me. I don't know if I can goad her into making a mistake but I may just try. If I can't, we'll see if she can keep this pace all ten rounds. If she can, maybe she deserves that belt. Still, I can see it. If it weren't me, I bet she'd take the risk. Heh. It's going to be pretty tough either way. She might just be up on me two-nil."

Round 3

Once the bell rang for the third round, both fighters met in the center of the ring and circled. Rachel continued with her aggressive offensive style while TV floated around the ring. Her eyes were focused as Rachel threw out jabs and followed with hooks aimed at the head. TV backed up and slipped into Rachel's guard and smacked a hard fist into the red head's stomach that made her grunt and fall back.

TV chased and flung an over hand at Rachel's head that the Irish girl slipped away from. She stood her ground and heaved her own fist at TV, which the Israeli ducked under and caught Rachel with an uppercut to the ribs.

Rachel chewed on her mouthpiece and threw herself forward, clinching and driving her fist into TV's side a few time before the referee broke them up.

Both girls circled again and TV pressed forward, deflecting a jab and nearly avoiding a hook that sizzled past her ear. The champ flicked a jab into Rachel's chest and then followed up with a straight that Rachel just backed away from.

The red head came back quickly and pounded away at TV's arms, keeping close and firing shots into TV's sides. Both girl's grunted and TV fit a jab between Rachel's mitts that kept her blinded and allowed TV to squeeze in an uppercut that jolted Rachel's head to the side. The Irish lass growled through her mouthpiece and ducked under a swooping hook from TV. Her red gloves sank into TV's stomach one after another and the third punch in the volley clipped TV's head just as she was retreating.

Rachel's green eyes flashed at the sight of the retreating champ and she extended her left and launched her right at TV as she neared the ropes. TV swung underneath the fiery punch and used the momentum to catch Rachel in the head with another hook from her off hand.

After the heated exchange, the girls cooled down for the rest of the round, exchanging jabs with a brief back and forth exchange coming in the final seconds.

TV plopped onto her stool as her second attended to her. "She's going for the body. I figured she'd try a little bit of head hunting, maybe daze me a bit. It's good work, I'm surprised she hasn't gotten a fight with me until now. Better keep on my toes with this one, P." TV looked back at her second, waiting for an answer. The woman lowered her head, made a quick gesture with her hand and stuffed the mouth guard back into TV's mouth.

Round 4

Rachel and TV were eager to get back at each other once the fourth round started. Rachel continued to push herself as the aggressor and held out her left, waving it as TV backpedaled to avoid a powerful right from sweeping in and pounding her. The champ circled away, making sure that she wasn't cut off from the center of the ring as Rachel went in and fired a hard right that TV just dipped under. She paused in her tracks and lunged at Rachel with a tight straight that was aimed at her stomach. Rachel took it and winced but snapped a hook at TV's head, causing sweat to fly from her messy hair.

Rachel pursued but her follow up ricocheted off of TV's gloves and the champ stood her ground, ducking under another heaving right and smacking her mitt with a loud thud against Rachel's head. She then came in with a combination at Rachel's body and while the set up connected, Rachel scooped up TV and clinched, pressing against her. Their bodies mingled briefly as Rachel held TV's arms but the referee broke them up after a short time.

After they separated, TV pushed forward. She batted away Rachel's harassing guard, faked a punch to the head and then ducked under the counter and slammed her fist into Rachel's body. The Irish warrior backed up to avoid TV's follow up but ran out of real estate and was soon pressed up against the ropes.

The Israeli went to work when she finally got Rachel against the ropes and pounded at her sides, the gloves popping with a loud FSHHH! with each fist. The crowd roared and Rachel gnashed her mouth guard as she tried to weather the storm, searching for a spot to fight back while protecting her face, not letting TV get to her jaw.

After a few moments, Rachel was able to give a shove and flash an uppercut that slipped against TV's cheek. The champ retreated and Rachel used long strikes aimed at TV's head to drive the champ back, nearly the length of the ring before she aimed a hard hook at TV's head when she thought she had closed in.

The red fist whizzed towards TV causing her to lose her balance and skid along the canvas with an embarrassed look on her face. The referee waved his hands in the air and immediately called it a slip. Rachel had a coy smile on her face and as TV got up, she rubbed the back of her head with her boxing glove and gave a shrug. The two exchanged a small conversation with their eyes as the ref called them to box.  TV didn't like how the silent exchange went and showed her displeasure by slapping her mitts together.

Rachel came forward as her face melded back into a serious look. The two danced around and cautiously circled each other. TV's guard was up and her eyes were focused. Rachel's had slipped a bit but it didn't seem to stop her from harassing TV with jabs to her face, keeping her out of range while TV looked for an opening.

TV backed away from Rachel slowly and when she saw a hook coming at her, she stepped forward and slugged Rachel in the jaw, causing the Irish pro to stumble backwards. TV chased, sensing a good opportunity as that fist had rattled Rachel just a bit. The champ pumped her fists, trying to rock Rachel's body while she was reeling. She caught Rachel in the side but the rest of her follow up was stifled as Rachel clinched. TV was only able to get a few shots in while clinched before the ref called break.

Rachel got aggressive in the closing seconds of the round, throwing a dazzling display of furious red fists at TV that made the champ back away and duck and weave around, delighting the crowd but not scoring anything of consequence before the bell was sounded once more.

TV plopped onto her stool when she got back to her corner and washed her mouth. "Now that was a round for me." She said with a grin. "She's starting to let go just a little bit but I still don't want to get hit with any of those punches. Let's see how the next round goes." She said to herself as her mouthpiece was slipped back in.

Round 5

Rachel wasn't as aggressive as she had been in the opening rounds. They were just about to reach the halfway point of the bout and while the challenger wasn't gassed, she wasn't even breathing through her mouth yet, she started to realize that expending too much energy would be counter productive. TV didn't seem like she was going to expose her chin so Rachel decided not to count on a knockout to move forward, at least, for now.

TV and Rachel flashed jabs back and forth at each other while they bounced around the middle of the ring. TV's head was lowered while it dipped around. Rachel took a taller stance while they paced. She looked like she was surveying the land and threw a hard right when TV thought she had an opening. It caught the champ in the gut and she groaned but dipped under a swinging left and pulled up, smashing an uppercut into Rachel's chin. Rachel staggered but pulled back away from the straight that followed. TV pursued but Rachel swung a punch off her back foot that managed to connect with TV's forehead and stall her efforts.

Both girls regrouped and danced around again. Rachel was feeling a little more confident and hugged her gloves up tightly. TV was starting to get a little restless, wondering if Rachel believed she'd made a good enough showing with the judges. Everyone wants a glorious knockout but TV knew better. She felt like if things went to the cards, it would be in her advantage, even IF Rachel was in her home town. If there was a knockout to be had, then it was most likely Rachel's to take. That was just the sort of pedigree she had.

Rachel and TV decided, nearly simultaneously, to go in at once and each girl took a moment to smatter the other as they leaned in, shoulder to shoulder and threw hard fists at each other before sliding into a clinch. About a baker's dozen between them and TV was sure she had come away with a few more than Rachel. Even though the body shots were hard to follow, the crowd still cheered for the exchange.

Each girl panted against one another for a few moments before the referee called them to box once more. Rachel followed TV and the champ threw harassing jabs at Rachel's approach before she slipped past a hook and clubbed the challenger in the side of the head. Rachel ducked under the follow up and slipped another fist of her own into TV's side. Rachel pursued and as TV danced away, she slapped another hard hook into the Irish lass' cheek, forcing her back while TV used long jabs to try and inch her towards the ropes.

Rachel staved off the looming champion and avoided getting pushed against the ropes with another clinch. She threw some stiff punches into TV's side while holding the other arm before the ref broke them up once more.

Rachel got away from TV after they separated and they circled for a bit, feeling each other out with jabs and looking for openings. Rachel pushed back, slipping a right past TV's guard that slapped her cheek. Her follow up was ducked and TV's fist buried itself into Rachel's chest, forcing out a sharp groan. Rachel clenched her teeth hard, mitigating a tight blow to the head with a fast turn and retaliated with a fairly devastating blow to TV's temple. The champ recoiled and was nearly backed to the ropes as Rachel let lunging crosses fly. However, most of them proved to be meaningless as TV ducked or blocked all but the last one which she hid behind to tag Rachel just under the chest.

The girls parted ways and circled each other until the final call. They traded a few crisp shots in an exchange that Rachel had felt she had gotten the better of. However, as she walked back to her corner, she wasn't sure if she had won the round or not.

TV was thankful that round had come to a close as she sat on her stool. Now that they had reached the middle of the fight, she could feel the soft burn in her arms. Her reactions would naturally slow. Thankfully, so would Rachel's. TV was prepared to battle all ten rounds but they had felt each other up for a while. Now she needed to start taking it too the challenger. TV's body was sore from the body work Rachel had done and she could feel a burn in her cheek. She'd been tagged a few times and her face had a little redness to it. Thankfully, Rachel looked the same, her fair Irish skin doing a much better job of pronouncing the welt just above her eye and the bruises on her stomach and abs.

TV sighed and let her second slide her mouthpiece in before waited for the bell to clang.

Round 6

TV and Rachel met at the center as they descended into the later rounds of the match. Circling each other and tossing out jabs, TV dipped her head and caught Rachel with a straight to the head that she just couldn't get out of the way of. The follow up clubbed her in the shoulder and the champ hit with a one-two in Rachel's stomach before the red clad boxer clinched. Rachel held TV's arms, panting softly and sucking in a deep breath before the referee pulled them apart. TV followed up quickly with a combination but Rachel blocked the first shot with a red paw and countered the next shot, hitting TV's cheek before she could connect.

Rachel tried to push her small advantage, trying to lead TV backwards with a harassing jab but the champ entrenched herself and batted away the attempt. Rachel retaliated with an aggressive combination at TV's abs, but the hits were mitigated and TV prepared an uppercut that caught Rachel in the cheek, just barely missing her chin. Stunned, Rachel backed away and caught a fist that clipped her eye. While she avoided a direct hit, she was driven back to the ropes and TV flashed leather at her, trying to create more openings. Rachel panted as she held her own against the ropes until she could clinch, catching a hook in her belly that hurt her more than she let on.

Rachel grabbed TV's arms and panted as she walked with the champ in a slow dance before the referee separated them. TV poked at the challenger with jabs, trying to keep her backpedaling, trying to keep her near the ropes. Rachel backed away, pulling up her sagging gloves as she blocked TV's punches and ducked under the rest, slipping away and retreating while the Israeli plodded after her.

TV was slow but determined and Rachel spent a lot of the rest of the round, just backpedaling and trying to regain her energy. Near the end of the round there was a quick exchange and the girls traded some shots, Rachel getting TV in the eye with a good hook and TV returning with another one-two to the body.

When the bell rang, they both eagerly walked back to their corners. TV huffed. "I think she's going to pop sooner or later. I've gotten her eye a few times. I don't know if I can close it, but I can make it sore, I think. Then again, my cheek isn't exactly feeling unblemished. Ah, well. I think if I can avoid a knockout shot, I may just have this one."

Once her business was done, she stood up and stepped forward.

Round 7

TV came out a bit excited to get back to the action and hustled to meet Rachel, who had a bit of a slower step. TV slipped past a jab and smacked Rachel in the face, catching the challenger with an early round hit that was solid. Rachel backed away from the follow up and whipped a punch off her back foot that kept TV from advancing.

The girls danced slowly around the ring and met with a quick exchange before they locked into a clinch, slapping their mitts into each others sides before the referee pulled them apart.

Rachel stepped up her pace, coming in under a jab, and smacked TV's chest with a hard glove only to feel the sting of a crisp hook to the cheek that had the crowd gasping. Rachel retreated quickly and TV followed, waving her left at Rachel and heaving a long and powerful right that the red head slipped away from, swinging out her own fist that TV also weaved underneath. Each girl pivoted and they clashed, trading body shots before they clinched once again.

As they pulled away and quickly came at each other, Rachel's mouthpiece was showing now as she hunched her shoulders and danced around a jab. She dipped to the side away from a jab and swung a long hook that whiffed. TV came up and hit Rachel in the chin with an uppercut that nearly staggered her. The champ followed up with a one-two to Rachel's body and nearly connected with a fast hook that slapped into Rachel's back as the red head clinched.

Rachel held onto TV for a long time before the referee forced a break and parted them. TV tried to break down Rachel's guard, stepping up her pace and flicking jabs at Rachel but she was unable to establish anything before the round came to an end.

TV took her spot and as her second looked her over, the champ ruminated a bit. "Could I put her down? I finally got that chin of hers. I had always heard that a suspect jaw ran in the family... maybe that's why SHE'S the pro?" TV said with a shrug as her mouth piece was slid back into her mouth and she hopped up to greet the eighth round bell.

Round 8

The round saw the activity die down a little. TV tried her best to be aggressive, but after taking a sharp fist to the chin when she got a little greedy, she backed down. Both of them seemed content to flick jabs at each other. TV spotted an opening in the middle of the round which caught Rachel in the eye but she couldn't manage to make anything happen before they clinched. Still, it WAS very nice to see bruising on the Irish lass' lid.

After they split up the two circled and flashed jabs at each other. Rachel stepped forward for a hard shot at TV that the champ deflected and countered, popping Rachel in the eye and following up with a combination to the challenger's stomach and head before Rachel scooped up TV in her arms and squeezed her tightly.

TV traded rabbit punches with Rachel until the ref broke them up. Both circled slowly and eyed each other. Rachel's mouth was now well agape and even TV was breathing through her mouth. It had been a long match and there was still two more rounds to go after this. TV was prepared though. She knew going the distance wasn't a problem for her and it didn't seem like it was going to be for Rachel either, even if she did look like the more tired of them.

Both girls stepped in and exchanged combinations, TV hit with a solid punch to Rachel's cheek but her follow through was ducked and the red head responded with a hard punch in the chest that made TV wince. She continued to go low, peppering TV with a few shots to her body and ducking under the swinging hooks until TV backed away Rachel with a particularly hard uppercut that left the challenger reeling.

TV followed up with a sharp punch to the head that sent sweat flying and she started to back Rachel into the ropes until once again their bodies hugged in a clinch. Rachel began to breath hard against TV's neck and the champ squeezed their bodies together until the referee called break. She didn't mind the rest either.

The rest of the round slowed to a near crawl and with the exception of a few flashes, petered out with both girls trying to recuperate for the penultimate round.

TV retired to her bench and her second began the all too familiar ritual. "If I can outlast her, I know I have her for sure. She's really tired but if I rest on my laurels, I'll be eating canvas. Oy, I'm not a fan of this girl one bit." She commented as she prepared for round nine. She stood up and looked over Rachel. Their eyes met and though her body was sweat soaked and face held obvious fatigue, her eyes still burned. TV sighed hard and stepped forward.

Round 9

TV met Rachel in the center of the ring and flicked jabs at the red head while she danced. Rachel had a tighter guard than she had had the last few rounds and she concentrated on dipping past TV's swings and avoiding getting pinned against the ropes.

TV carefully focused and looked for an opening. It was hard to find one, but she chiseled away at the girl's guard. She wasn't sure what Rachel was going to get out of the defensive fighting, but she probably wasn't going to win the round that way, that was for sure. TV didn't mind and she slowed the pace of her punches down. If Rachel just wanted to slide around the ring with her fists up, TV would be happy to cruise through the final rounds on her way to retention.

TV still tried to maneuver Rachel towards the ropes though and seemed to be having some success until suddenly Rachel slipped past TV's jab and crashed a hard, red fist right into her cheek. The burst of power seemed overwhelming and TV found herself staggering as fists crashed into her stomach and chin.

There was a moment of panic as TV staggered backwards and her eyes were wide as she scrambled to regain her composure, even as she was rocked with a belly shot that nearly made her cough up her mouthpiece.

TV fell back towards the ropes and threw her hands in front of her face as punches crashed against her. She moved her body from side to side, trying to avoid most of it until an uppercut slipped and hit her chin. She staggered back, finally running out of room and hitting the ropes. Rachel chased with a fury in her eyes. She was going in for the kill!

TV ducked under a looping hook but Rachel was able to slip past a stifling straight and slammed a fist hard into her chest. TV gasped and fell against the ropes again. The home crowd was deafening as the referee stepped in between them and threw his hands in the air.

He forced Rachel into a neutral corner and she threw her fists into the air as she sauntered over to it. He then began the standing eight count and TV began to chew hard on her mouth piece. There was a cut above her eye from the punishment she had taken, this round finally breaking her tanned skin. However, she wasn't worried about that.

TV was looking through the referee and when he asked if she wanted to continue, she nearly punched him out. She nodded vigorously and slapped her mitts together as hard as she could.

There was a fire in Rachel's eye as they were called to box again. She burst from the corner, excited to pick up where she left off, smelling blood in the water. She she came at TV and threw a hard hook but the champ slipped past it and punished Rachel with a hard right to the face. She staggered back but TV didn't follow up. Rachel shook it off and regrouped, coming in a bit more cautiously, if no less enthusiastic and tossed a jab that TV dodged followed by a hook that TV avoided by backing up. While she retreated, her long arm stifled any follow up.

Rachel's aggressiveness was slowly turned into frustration as each time she tried to get something going, TV would counter or slip past it. Like Rachel had done in the earlier part of the round, TV had turtled up well and when the bell sounded, both girls retreated to their corners.

TV slapped her gloves against her thighs angrily and stared at her second as she fixed the cut. "Standing eight count... I wasn't even CLOSE to falling over!" She growled. "Well... no I know why she was playing opossum." TV huffed. "She might have been able to gain some grounds on the scorecard but she didn't knock me out and I'm not going to let her touch me once in round ten."

TV snorted as her second moved away and she stood up. She had a fierce look in her eyes as the final bell of the fight rang.

Round 10

TV stepped forward and touched gloves with Rachel before they both backed away. She was calculating what Rachel might do. The girl still looked hungry but TV certainly wasn't going to let her get away with what she did LAST round and no doubt Rachel knew as much. She probably knew she would need at LEAST  another knockdown, but most likely a knockout. TV liked those odds.

The two slowly circled in the middle of the ring. Rachel taunted TV with jabs and low crosses to try and bait the champ into letting down her guard. TV, meanwhile, fished as well, trying to show an opening that was too good to resist for the head hunting red head. TV wasn't too keen on losing the round so she still felt she needed to be somewhat aggressive but both girls seemed to want the same thing, to try and punch TV.

TV dropped her guard a bit and came at Rachel, letting the girl close the distance with harassing jabs. She dipped her head around them and when Rachel coiled her arm, TV popped her with a cross to the face. Sweat and spit flew from Rachel but she dug in and smashed another hard fist into TV's face.

Angry with the outcome, TV launched again and and smashed a fist into Rachel's cheek once more. Rachel staggered but fired back, tagging TV with a left, right that made her step back. Rachel gleefully followed with a hook but she was stuffed as a white and blue mitt smashed into her face.

Both girl's took a moment to suck in a breath as they made eye contact. TV was NOT looking to trade punches with Rachel but she didn't want to back down either. TV's cut had opened again and Rachel's eye was swollen and both girl's were feeling a little punch drunk after nine grueling rounds.

They stared into each others eyes as they slowly circled each other, waiting for one of them to make the first move. The crowd was on their feet, crying out for a heated exchange and believing full well that if the two went at it, that Rachel's power might just put the champ down.

As the scene washed over her, TV suddenly smiled. "Sorry!" She said and shrugged at Rachel. The girl gave a puzzled look but decided that it was time. Whatever TV had planned, Rachel needed to go.

She waded in, trying to break TV's guard and get a punch on the champ's face. She had a good shot and just barely grazed TV's cheek with the punch, only to feel their bodies press together tightly. TV hugged Rachel and began to rabbit punch her in the clinch.

The referee broke them up and called to box and Rachel aggressively sent a flurry at TV who backed away away. Rachel gave chase, and TV threw a hard hook at Rachel that crashed into her jaw. It snapped her head to the side and paused her briefly. TV threw her fists forward and began sending a flurry of her own, only to be stuffed with a will placed straight to her nose. She shook her head and instantly threw herself at Rachel and hugged her again.

The crowd started getting a bit restless at TV's actions. As the fighters broke once more, Rachel was aggressive again, but TV went right back to the clinch. The crowd began to boo a bit, but TV just held on tightly. She could hear Rachel growling in her ear but she kept cool.

She backed away from the aggressive red head as the round counted down to its final ten seconds. The announcement boosted Rachel's vigor and she tried to unload on TV, who had ducked a punch so it grazed off her cut forehead and threw herself at Rachel one last time. The fight ended with the two boxers in an embrace and as the final ring bell hit, both fighters faces melted and their clinch turned into a genuine hug.

Rachel's arms squeezed tightly around TV and she rocked the champ back and forth while TV squeezed with equal fervor.

"One helluva match." Rachel said into TV's ear while their crews began to pool into the ring.

"You're telling me. Is your fist made of iron or something, Rach? Oy, it's like getting hit by a cinder block."

After their exchange, the two parted ways and retired to their corner. TV plopped onto her stool while her gloves were removed and a robe was draped over her. As the crowd inside the ring began to grow a bit restless awaiting the judges decision, TV closed her eyes. "How much of a home town benefit of the doubt do you think they'll give me, P.?" She asked but then shook her head. "That stupid standing eight count is going to bite me if anything will.' She said finally and soon they were called.

The referee grabbed both their hands and both girls puffed out their chests confidently, believing themselves to be the winner. The crowd hushed as the ring announcer inhaled and pulled up his index card.

"Ladies and gentlemen, the judges have reached their decision in tonight's main even bout. Judge Herman Johnson scores the bout ninety-six-ninety-three in favor of the challenger." The crowd erupted and Rachel nodded her head. The rest was most assuredly in the bag. Judge Hillary McKenzie scores the bout ninety-six-ninety-three in favor of the champion." The crowd was less enthused at that announcement. "And Judge Julio Rodriguez scores the bout ninety-five-ninety-four. The winner and still champion, Tiiiiiiqvaaaaaah "TV" Vaaaaaarrrrdiiiii!"

All the wind was taken out of Rachel's sails but TV was instantly elated. Her hands were raised in the air and she soaked in the begrudging cheers of the crowd. Even though they wanted to see their girl win, they had to admit that TV was champ for a reason, and they were even more hungry for a rematch knowing how close Rachel had come.

After the flash of the cameras and a quick interview from both girls, the two hugged each other again. TV patted Rachel on the back and whispered in her ear. "Rematch. Any time. You've got the skills and I can't wait to take you down again. Of course, next time, you're coming to my house! let's see if you can handle the big stage, right?"

Rachel smiled and nodded. "I've got a good feel for you now. I'll have you eating more than an eight count next time, count on it! And don't worry 'bout that. I'll be bringin the whole flock to Las Vegas!"

TV pulled away and laughed, ruffling Rachel's now sweat soaked hair. "You do that, ehehehe!" She giggled ruthlessly and Rachel's face furrowed. "You.. what's got you in stitches,!? Oi!" She said, blushing deeply as she fumed. "Rach... how did you come up with your nick name?" She asked.

Rachel was bewildered. "What?! My family gave it to me! We're all boxers, but I'm the best! Since we're red heads, they called me the Red Shepherd because i was gonna be the one to lead this generation of our families into prominence!" Rachel nodded and pounded her fist against her chest.

TV nodded eagerly, still grinning widely. "Sounds great! I guess that's a great way to spin it." She said. "Ok! See ya around!" TV turned to leave and Rachel followed her, grabbing her shoulder. She spun TV around and scowled at her. "Yer real close to fightin words." Rachel growled.

"Oy vey!" TV said. "Ten rounds of it and ya still want more!? Maybe I DON'T want a rematch! I was just sayin, I thought they called ya that cause of your name, ya know. Rachel."

"What about Rachel?" The Irish lass said with a confused look.

"Rachel. It's Hebrew. It means... you know... ewe."

"No duh it means me! It's my name!"

"I mean, it means e-w-e. Ewe. Sheep! And you, well... You got that look... so I thought..."

"I gotta look like a sheep!?"

"K... iiiiinda? It's the hair."

"Why you!" TV lunged at TV but was grabbed by her second.

"Don't worry! You're extra pretty I was just! I've got a terrible sense of humor! Ask P.!"

TV's second swooped in and put herself between TV and Rachel and diffused the situation quickly. She talked the Red head down and quickly pushed TV along and hurriedly back to the locker rooms.

*********

TV was finally showered and dressed and ready to head back to her hotel. However, she had found a small note in her locker whens he was changing and wondered how it could get there. It was curious enough so she left her entourage aside and slipped away. She walked through the arena until she got to a VIP box. She'd been in these before and while she had met personally with the famous and wealthy, this seemed a little different. In her gut, something was a little off. She knocked carefully on the door and it was opened.

The door was answered by a woman in a chauffeur's outfit with jet black hair mostly hidden under a smart cap. She said nothing and only gestured for TV to enter. She peeked around, trying to see what was inside. It looked like any VIP box. There were some seats that seemed to be occupied by two figures she couldn't make out. Not only because she couldn't see them but because the woman fast approaching her demanded her attention.

"Oh, Miss Vardi, how good it is to finally meet you in person, she said, leaning forward with a European greeting. TV stifled a frown and accepted it as graciously as she could, finally waving her hand as the woman stepped away.

"TV. Just. TV." She said tersely. She already didn't care for the woman and no amount of smiling or friendly greetings would undo the feeling in the pit of her stomach. Curiosity was the only reason she hadn't left yet. "Do I know you?" She asked, skeptically as she stepped into the room.

"Oh, I'm sorry, TV." The woman in said and tilted her head. "No, you don't know me but I know you."

"OF course you do..." TV said. "I mean, you probably just watched my fight. so.."

"No." The woman corrected. "I don't know you in the way that everyone knows you. You're the best in the world, your name isn't unfamiliar to anyone who is at least a little interested in boxing."

TV turned her head but smiled a bit. "Only between the weights of one hundred and forty-five and one hundred and fifty-three pounds." She corrected. "There's plenty of bigger girls who would slaughter me."

"Yes, yes." The woman said, waving off TV's modestly. "As i was saying, I know you on a more personal level. After all, I thought you might want to come here to thank me."

TV raised an eyebrow. "Thank... you?"

The woman smiled. TV could see the crocodile fangs behind her luscious red lips. "I was the one who got the commission to put together this match on such short notice. Obviously, Miss O'Hanahan had no problems with it, but even if she had, well... that wouldn't have been an issue."

TV narrowed her eyes. "Oooook.... So you're a promoter then? Great. The last thing I need is one more person trying to cut into things. More schlep! Just what I need." TV narrowed her eyes at the woman. "Well, any further discussion about anything can be directed towards my agent." She said with a serious tone. "I don't negotiate contracts and I'm surprised HE did. I'll tell you what. I'm going to get a NEW agent and then you can call HIM!"

The woman laughed, pressing her hand against her chest that was covered with a sleek, black curve hugging outfit. "Oh, no no no." She said, waving a hand at TV. "I didn't do this for any sort of compensation. Not... monetary, at least! All I really wanted was to ask you a favor. All I want is for you to make an appearance at one of my events. Having you there would really give us a real boost, if you know what I mean."

TV knew. She didn't really like it though, but if she just needed to show up somewhere, wave and sign a few autographs, it was well worth the price of that match against Rachel. "I guess. Where do you need me to be?" She asked.

"Well, we're going to put you in a match, you see. We'll have to find the right opponent, but that shouldn't be too hard."

TV furrowed her brow. "I'm not doing a match!" She barked. "Like I said, go through my agent if you have a girl you want me to fight."

The woman never stopped smiling but she hook her head. "Oh, no... this isn't the sort of fight that agents get involved in. i assure you that if you join us, you'll be paid handsomely. Perhaps even more so than you might be used to."

TV raised an eyebrow. She was used to being paid very well but the fact that this woman didn't want to go through an agent instantly set off red flags. "Ok. What sort of match then?" She asked. "An exhibition or something?" It WAS possible for TV to do something like that without necessarily going through all the red tape a normal match involved.

"Ooooh, maybe you could call it that. I doubt the other girl would though. No. We're very serious in the underground, despite what some might think. I daresay we even have much better competition than professional fighters, if only because their hearts make up for whatever skill they may not posses."

TV's eyes widened and she covered a furious blush of embarrassment with a growl and a wide arcing wave of her hands. "Nooooooo way!" She said, shaking her head vigorously, turning around to exit the facility. "I don't DO topless boxing! Don't get me wrong, I love some of those gals to death, but it's not something I do! Sorry, lady! I'm out of here." She said and threw up her hand.

"Ooooh?" The woman said. "It seems that iw as miss informed. I'll have to scold Miles for giving me bad information."

TV flushed. She stopped in her tracks and swallowed hard. Her eyes darted to and fro and her shoulders sunk. She meekly turned around. "M-Miles?" She asked, curiously.

"Miles Redcliff. The name is not familiar to you?" The woman asked with a knowing, sinister smile.

"Uhhhh..." TV froze. She knew exactly who Miles Redcliff was. He was the man who ran the underground boxing ring where she had fought a young girl named Anamoha some time ago on a lark. She tried to fume, but she was so embarrassed that this woman knew. If SHE knew, then who ELSE knew!?

'Cyan! P.! You're both soooooo dead!'

TV turned around and tried to look tough against the woman's deadly smile. "I ... I don't do that thing. You're quite misinformed!" She said, even as her throat cracked.

The woman laughed and TV tried not to stamp her foot childishly. She was an adult. She was a soldier! She was not going to let this woman turn her into a petulant child! TV put on a bold face and stared at the woman. "Who are you again, exactly?" TV suddenly thought to ask.

The woman smiled. "Oh, darling, you may call me Anya."
Here is the women's Welterweight title match between Tiqvah "TV" Vardi and Rachel "Red Shepherd" O'Hanahan.  What I really wanted to do was write a straight boxing match that focused on the fighting and fighting alone without all the usual toplessness or sex I like to put in most of my stuff. I really only have TWO characters who can pull that off and I didn't want to use Keiichi because of some things I wanted to do with TV.

You may remember TV from this piece: The Same Side of Two Different Coins pt. 1

If you don't, then you should check it out! I think it's a pretty good read, myself!

I have plans for TV in the far future but she may make appearances here and there. I like her and she's one of Cyan's connections to professional boxing.

Also, I know that probably NO ONE who reads this will get it, but there is a little Easter Egg in this match :3

Also, also, there is a little post match epilogue featuring a guest appearance by someone else you probably don't know! Fun!

TV, Rachel, P. (C) Me!

Anya, chauffeur (C) :iconbeanietheboxer:
